The Apophis asteroid is much more likely to hit Earth in 2068

A small amount of energy pushes the asteroid backwards as heat moves away from the asteroid, forcing it to rotate slightly.Tholen and his team calculated that the Yarkovsky effect was putting enough pressure on the Epophysis to one side, forcing it to travel about 170 meters a year.They then applied some of that illustrated knowledge by describing Epophys's orbit and saw that the drift was changing the orbit of the asteroid in such a way that it would move closer to Earth. He notes that so far, there is no indication that the asteroid will hit Earth in 2029 and 2036, but 2068 could be another matter.He suggested that astronomers keep an eye on the apophysis as the undisclosed date approaches.

As news of the potential threat from Apophis spreads, others have noted that the human race has taken steps to protect the planet from asteroid impacts.For example, NASA's DART mission scheduled for 2022 will be used to send a spacecraft to an asteroid called Didimos and change the path of one of its moons, Dimorphos.Tholen noted in his talk that when the study of Apophis takes place in 2029, scientists should have a better idea of whether it faces a real threat in 2026.
